Factial Programme Production - News and Documentary PLAN!!!!

News

Target Words: 15,000

Codes and Conventions:
1. Talk about BBC News and Channel 4 News, Including, the use of VT Inserts, Interviews, Voice overs, graphics, facts, information and opinions (What purpose are they for and why they use them): You use VT inserts so that people can not only get more involved with the story but also to not bore them, because then they would just be watching a reporter say it and lastly, it helps people understand more if they could see what its about instead of getting told it (like a Book when they get turned into movies and how you end up seeing it in the real perspective instead of your own).

Interviews are so that you don't get a bias view on the story (talk about Fox and other bias things) also when you have movies or songs etc. come out they will usually interview the artist or actor/actress so they can explain it, so would get more information about what it is and how good or bad it will be.

Voice overs are so that you can get some information about what you are seeing, for example, VT inserts need voice overs over wise no one will know what is going on in the video because then it will just be clips, interviews and statistics, also if there is a load of words on the screen usually the narrater is saying what is said and that is useful for the people that struggle to read.

Graphics are there for a impact in the video, for example, some news programmes use very epic looking intro, like FOX, to give an impact on the watching so that it looks interesting, it is also used sometimes for an understanding, like when they are doing some statistics they now put up a edited statistic on the side so you can see for yourself.

Facts are used so that you can understand the realism of the story, like if they showed a car crash or something they would say when it happened, who was in it, what day and time etc. and once they do that the audience starts to get more into it cause it makes them more understand, also its used to help when they do some interviews.

Information is there to help explain what is going on, like talking about the VT or if its just a story that the presenters talk about, also no one will know anything about the Story if there was no info on it cause then they will just get told what it was but not anything else.

Opinions are used to get everyones own point across, for example, if they was doing a review on a film they would go out and ask around the public to see what they thought of it (there opinion) it is also good so that it gets the audience more involved in it because they would want to put there own opinion across.

2. Talk About how it is structured:

3. Talk about how the camera (Multi camera, Showing the audience who to look at), sound (Intro music makes an impact) and editing (So you know what they are talking about, so you know who's talking and to shorten some VT's to make it easier to understand) is used.
